UPDATES: Soldier Shot in Attack Near Canadian Parliament; 1 Gunman Dead


A Canadian soldier and a gunman are dead after multiple shots were fired in Ottawa this morning.

According to reports, a gunman got out of a car at around 10am local time and methodically walked to the National War Memorial, shooting the ceremonial soldier who was standing guard.

The suspect is then said to have walked 200 yards to the Parliament building.

Globe and Mail reporter Josh Wingrove was inside Parliament Hill's Centre Block and captured an intense exchange of gunfire between police and at least one shooter.
