A New Zealand man was arrested after he taunted police on Facebook.

Police in Christchurch posted a "wanted" photo of Samuel Evan Lake on the department's Facebook page, writing that there was a warrant for his arrest.

A Facebook user, Sam Lake - believed to be the same person - then commented "I need to get a new mugshot."

Police responded by saying, "Come and see us and will arrange at no cost."

Lake wasn't finished, countering with, "If only they were as good at finding me as they were with comebacks".

The post was later taken down by police, who also announced that Lake had been arrested.
