Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today called for a complete travel ban from Ebola-affected countries to the United States.

“It just makes common sense. Stop it at the point of infection rather than waiting until it becomes a pandemic. We don’t need to bring it here,” Roberts said.

A patient in Kansas was tested for Ebola, but the tests came back negative. While Roberts said this is good news, he said it doesn’t stop the need to control the epidemic.

Roberts also discussed how he’s been catching up in the polls with his opponent, independent Greg Orman.

“My opponent is a liberal Democrat. He is posing as an independent,” Roberts said.

He told Stuart Varney, “You can’t pull the wool over the eyes of Kansas.”
