EXCLUSIVE: Miss USA Reflects on Past Episode of Domestic Abuse
The Ailes Apprentice Program is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with its annual series of inspiring stories from the Hispanic/Latino community.
Today on “Fox & Friends,” we got to meet Miss USA Nia Sanchez, whose talents go far beyond the pageant scene.
The Mexican-American is a fourth-degree black belt in taekwondo, beginning at age 8 when she signed up for classes with her dad.
After showing off her skills on Alicia Acuna, she reflected on getting through an episode of abuse by a former boyfriend.
She said she walked away from that relationship after she was grabbed by the arm so hard it left a hand-sized bruise.
"I just feel very blessed that I had the strength to leave because I know that it's hard because you feel like you're in love with somebody," said Sanchez, who added that the incident prompted her to take a "no BS" approach to dating.
Sanchez, who is now dating "The Hunger Games" actor Daniel Booko, was also asked about the experience of meeting Donald Trump.
She joked that she only met Trump after winning the pageant, but said she hasn't been able to sit down with him since being crowned.
"I feel like that needs to happen soon," she said.
