An American who was recently killed while fighting alongside ISIS had previously worked at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

KMSP reporter Tom Lyden, who broke the story, went “On The Record” this evening to discuss this harrowing revelation.

Abdirahmaan Muhumed worked at the airport from November 2001 to May 2011. He had a security clearance – which requires an FBI background check –  and it allowed him to skip metal detectors and get right on the tarmac. He worked to fuel up planes, and then from 2010-2011, he was charged with cleaning and securing planes.

Muhumed worked for Delta Global Services, which is owned by Delta Airlines.

The airport said it does not know why he left his job, and Delta would not comment, but said the company is aware of the report.
