ISIS claims that it has beheaded U.S. journalist James Foley, and the terrorist group is threatening to murder a second American.
Former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden was on “The Kelly File” tonight to weigh in on ISIS and these reported threats.
“Preventing genocide is a virtue, protecting Americans is a virtue. We have a fundamentalist radical state now in the middle of the Middle East. We can’t let that stand,” he said.
Hayden said we need to do more in Iraq to fight ISIS.
“Fundamentally, what we’ve seen with this video is the character of the Islamic State. You want that to continue to exist and thrive and grow and be able to threaten other Americans, other westerners, other moderates throughout the world? I mean, that’s the fundamental question we now face as a nation.”
Hayden said that he, too, is tired of war, “but this may be a question of pay now or pay later, and paying later may actually be a much higher bill.”
