CBS News White House correspondent Bill Plante pointed out that the U.S. has called for cease-fires or diplomatic solutions in Gaza, Iraq and Ukraine with "little effect."

"Has the United States of America lost its influence in the world? Have you lost yours?"

The president pointed out that this is a "common theme" that people bring up, saying "people have forgotten that America, as the most powerful country on Earth, still does not control everything around the world."

He said that diplomatic efforts take time and are often followed by setbacks.
