Police near Houston have arrested a suspected burglar who was allegedly caught on surveillance video lurking over a child's crib. In the creepy video, which made national headlines this week, the male suspect can be seen in a two-year-old boy's room, standing over the crib and shining a light on the sleeping child.
The parents were asleep downstairs while the burglary was taking place. The burglar got in through an unlocked window.
Police have now arrested 18-year-old Christopher Gomez (mugshot below) and he is expected to be charged in the case. Here's more from MyFoxHouston.com:
HCSO investigators are preparing burglary of a habitation charges against Christopher Gomez, 18, (photo attached) in an April 5 west Harris County home burglary that shocked TV and video viewers across the nation.
Although charges are still pending, Gomez is named here because he was arrested tonight on warrants issued for him in cases filed previously in justice of the peace court in Constable Precinct 5.
Investigators have evidence indicating Gomez burgled two other homes, too.
He became a suspect in the video surveillance burglary thanks to tips to Crime Stoppers of Houston spawned by public interest in the case.
The burglar was seen on home video surveillance walking through the victims' home and staring at their toddler in his crib while the family slept.
