A tweet from an the account linked to comedian and Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert triggered accusations of racism, and led to #CancelColbert to trend worldwide.

“I’m willing to show the #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever," read the tweet from the "Colbert Report" show account.

Colbert later said he did not write the tweet and is unsure who did.

The tweet was apparently meant as a parody, with the context being that on the show Wednesday Colbert had been mocking Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder for setting up a charity for Native Americans. Colbert then tweeted the following from his personal Twitter account in response to the backlash.

Bill Hemmer discussed the controversy with Joe Concha, Mediaite.com columnist.

Concha believes it will all "blow over" quickly, remarking that Comedy Central shows, like "The Daily Show" and "South Park" can usually get away with things like this "because it's all in the name of satire."
