Arianna Huffington was on “The O’Reilly Factor” tonight to discuss liberal politics and her new book.

Bill O’Reilly asked the “Huffington Post” editor-in-chief to explain why fervent liberals back the president no matter what. She said she believes there are a certain number of people on both sides of the spectrum who defend their side no matter what, calling it inappropriate.

“The Huffington Post does not reflexively defend anyone,” she said, stressing that there are many problems in the country which Huffington Post criticizes the president for. “We call our editorial coverage ‘beyond left and right’ because a lot of the issues we are facing, like the decline of the middle class, are issues that do not have an ideology,” she said.

Huffington told O’Reilly about the inspiration behind her book, “Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder.”

In 2007, Huffington collapsed from exhaustion. She broke her cheekbone and needed stitches on her right eye.

“So what I asked myself after that was ‘What is success?’ You know, our culture defines success as money and power. By those two metrics of success, I was successful, but by any sane definition of success, I was not if I was lying in a pool of blood on the floor of my office.”

Huffington said that people are a combination of their bodies, minds and souls, and we need to nurture all of those parts.
