A tragic situation unfolded near Houston, where a father fatally shot a 17-year-old teen who was in his daughter's bedroom.

According to reports, the father was alerted by his four-year-old son that there was someone in his 16-year-old daughter's bedroom at about 2am Thursday. He then grabbed his gun and went to his daughter's room, where he found the two in bed together.

The girl reportedly told her father that she did not know the teen, leading him to open fire when he saw him reach for something. His daughter later admitted it was her boyfriend, who did not have a weapon, and that she had snuck him into the house.

The father, 55, has not been identified by police and authorities say it's unlikely that he'll be charged. He was taken away from his home in an ambulance for an unrelated medical issue.
