Fox News' Jennifer Griffin reported moments ago that a U.S. official confirmed Friday that Israeli warplanes struck Syria overnight. The target, she added, was believed to be a weapons warehouse.

At least two planes crossed into the Syrian air space, Griffin said, although it's still unclear what types of aircraft they were. The last time reports surfaced of an Israeli strike inside of Syria was in January 2013, however that particular strike did not cause Israeli planes to cross over Syria's border, Griffin added.

There has not yet been reaction from rthe egime of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
