As Sen. Ted Cruz hit the 18-hour mark in his filibuster-esque effort to delay Senate action on legislation in an effort to defund ObamaCare, Cruz related his struggle to the Star Wars movies ... and even contributed his best impression of Darth Vader. This came after Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham last night.

"I will confess that the phrase 'a rebellion against oppression' conjured up to me the rebel alliance fighting against the empire, the empire being the Washington, D.C. establishment," Cruz said.

"Upon hearing that phrase, [I wondered] if we would see a tall gentleman in a mechanical breathing apparatus come forward and say in a deep voice, 'Mike Lee, I am your father."

The analogy didn't end there, however, with Cruz adding that the fight and the government's response are a long way from being over.

"This is a fight to get the Washington establishment to listen to the people ... yet just like [in the Star Wars movies], the empire will strike back."
