Hear From Man Wrongly ID'd By Media as Navy Yard Shooter
On last night's On the Record, the man wrongly named by CBS and NBC as the shooter responsible for Monday's Navy Yard massacre spoke to Greta Van Susteren about the experience, adding that the networks have yet to apologize for the mistaken report.
Former Navy Lieutenant Rollie Chance, whose badge found at the scene led authorities to question him about possible involvement, told Greta that he first learned of the implication from the media.
"I received a phone call from the media, and [was asked,] 'do you know Rollie Chance?' They went on to tell me that he was the perpetrator, then they asked me how I was related to [him]."
Chance said he guaranteed the reporter(s) that he had nothing to do with the shooting, but that didn't stop his name from going on air.
