GA Elementary School Shooter Identified, Front Desk Clerk Hailed a Hero
The identity of the suspect who entered an Atlanta-area elementary school on Tuesday and opened fire has been revealed. Michael Brandon Hill, 20, reportedly snuck into Ronald E McNair Discover Learning Academy Elementary School behind a parent who was checking in at the front office.
Today, the office clerk is being hailed a hero for talking the shooter into surrendering. In an interview on Good Morning America on Wednesday, clerk Antoinette Tuff described the scary scene.
"He said that he hadn't taken his medication, and that he was going to die anyway, and that he was okay with dying, and that he was going to kill all the police officers, and that he wanted me to know that he was not going to hurt me," she said.
Hill has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, terroristic threats, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Students headed back to class this morning at a nearby high school, and officials say they hope the alternate location will only be a temporary solution.
