As he gets ready for spring training, Boston Red Sox outfielder Jonny Gomes lost his beard for a good cause on Fox and Friends. The Sox, with Gomes and many of his teammates sporting a season's worth of facial hair, won the franchise's third World Series of the past decade last fall.
He got a nice clean shave courtesy of Elisabeth Hasselbeck to raise awareness for his cause. Norelco, a sponsor, will donate $10,000 to the Travis Roy Foundation. The charity helps people with spinal cord injuries. Travis Roy was a promising hockey star at Boston University in 1995 when a hit in his first collegiate game left him paralyzed from the neck down.
Jonny said his wife will be quite happy with his new look, so the shave is also something of a Valentine's Day gift.
