NHRA racer Ron Capps survived a fiery explosion while racing in Pomona, Calif.

Capps was driving nearly 300 mph when his car’s engine burst into flames.

He was not seriously injured in the explosion, which sent pieces of the engine and the top of the car flying.

"You go from a car that's all dark [inside] and then you're [driving] a convertible," he told the Los Angeles Times.

This is the second time that Capps has suffered this kind of explosion.
