Here’s an excuse to give up your diet this weekend: New research says indulging on the weekends may not affect long-term weight gain.

The study by VTT Technical Research Center in Finland found that weekend diet splurging doesn’t negatively impact weight as long as dieters make healthy choices during the week.

Researchers monitored the weight of 80 adults for at least 15 days. Overall, the adults weighed more on Sundays and Mondays. People who lost more weight from Tuesday until the weekend more successfully lost or maintained their weight.
