Christie Denies Knowing About Bridge Scandal in New Radio Interview
Governor Chris Christie now says he might have heard about the George Washington Bridge traffic jam while it was happening last September. However, if he did hear about it, the Republican governor said it didn’t seem important enough to remember.
In a radio interview, the governor maintained that he was unaware of a plot within his administration to cause the lane closures as political retribution.
“Did I authorize it? Did I know about it? Did I approve it? Did I have any knowledge of it beforehand? And the answer’s still the same; it’s unequivocally no,” Christie said.
A Port Authority official who resigned after the scandal surfaced claims that evidence exists proving Christie knew about the traffic jam at the time.
Three of the top officials who have been subpoenaed to testify are planning on pleading the Fifth.
