UPDATE, 3:33 p.m.: Schools are on lockdown after police found an escaped killer’s abandoned car in northern Indiana.

Authorities are warning police nationwide to be on the lookout for Michael David Elliot, who was sentenced to life in prison for murdering four people.

People in the surrounding area are being urged to keep their doors locked and only open them for law enforcement officials.

According to officials, Elliot cut two holes in a fence and escaped last night. He was wearing a white kitchen uniform.

A convicted murderer has escaped from a maximum security prison in Michigan.

Michael David Elliot is considered armed and dangerous. Prison officials discovered a hole in the fence last night.

After he escaped, police say he kidnapped a woman and drove to Indiana. When he stopped for gas, the woman was able to get away.

Elliot murdered four people in the mid-nineties.
