Police responded to an active shooting at Columbia Mall in Maryland shortly after 11:00 a.m. ET. Three people are confirmed dead.
UPDATE, 4:30p ET: A male and female in their 20s are among the deceased victims. They were both employees of the Zumiez store where the gunman opened fire. Police say reports of this being a domestic violence incident are speculation at this point. More from the press conference here.

UPDATE, 2:50p ET: Police confirm the shooting happened at a skate shop called Zumiez on mall's upper level.
UPDATE, 2:30p ET: Molly Henneberg reported from the scene that people are being taken to a nearby movie theater for police questioning.
UPDATE, 1:40p ET: In a press conference, Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon said police identified three victims at an upper level store in the mall. They do not have a motive at this time. Law enforcement is continuing to clear the mall to make sure there are no more victims and to find people who may still be sheltered in place. Get more details from the press conference here.

UPDATE, 12:48p ET: Federal authorities who are receiving reports from police on the scene report the shooter killed himself. Stay tuned for a press briefing at 1:15 p.m. ET.
UPDATE, 12:40p ET: People inside the mall are being told to wait until they are escorted out. The scene is believed to be secure.
UPDATE, 12:34p ET: Randy Brooks, owner of Edward Arthur Jewelers at Columbia Mall, told Uma Pemmaraju that he heard a couple of pops and then saw people running. He said it appeared that the shooter had a shotgun and was killed, but police have not confirmed that. Brooks said others have reportedly been taken to the hospital.

Call came into 911 around 11:15 a.m. that shots were fired. Police made entry and found three dead, one found near a gun and ammunition.

The mall, which is located in a suburb near Baltimore, is on lockdown. Howard County Police Department says there may be three people injured. People have been asked to avoid the area and those in the mall are being told to stay put.
