Upper East Side residents are blaming New York Mayor Bill de Blasio for a slow snowstorm response.

The newly elected mayor has vowed to raise taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers, and now many of those residents say de Blasio is engaging in political payback by refusing to plow their streets.

Yesterday, de Blasio praised the response, saying that he believes in a five-borough approach and that no neighborhood was treated any differently. However, when he visited the Upper East Side later that day, he said, “While the overall storm response across the city was well-executed, and after inspecting the area and listening to concerns from residents, I determined more could have been done to serve the Upper East Side."

Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a resident of the Upper East Side. Neighbors say they didn’t have any issues when he was in office.
