Shepard Smith's Theory Behind Richard Sherman's Now-Regretful Outburst
WATCH: Seahawks' Richard Sherman regrets bizarre rant
Shepard Smith has a theory about Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's now infamous outburst, and it’s a good one.
Today on his show, Shep said, “We gotta have something to talk about for the next two weeks. If you’re Richard Sherman and you want to become one of the top selling jerseys in all of football right now – which he just did – and you want to have everybody talking about you, […] do you just have verbal diarrhea and then later go, ‘Oh, I shouldn't have done that. It was really about my team’? Just a theory.”
In a press conference earlier, Sherman said he regrets his outburst after winning the NFC Championship.
Sherman said he wouldn’t have gone off on 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree if he had known the rant would take away from his team’s big win.
Surprised by the backlash, he said, “I wasn’t committing any crimes, you know, doing anything illegal. I was showing passion after a football game. I didn’t have time to sit there and contemplate what am I going to say.”
