The Cuban-Venezuelan actress appeared in a political ad with Tim Donnelly, who is running for governor of California. Her dog Tequila was also in the ad.

Alonso spoke out on Fox and Friends Weekend about the ordeal. She is supporting Donnelly for many reasons, including the fact that he wants smaller government. “I fight against communism, and when you have to depend on the government that’s what they want, to control you, and that’s communism,” she said.

Alonso resigned from a play she was set to star in after people verbally attacked her and threatened to destroy the production. The play’s producer, Eliana Lopez, said, “We really cannot have her in the show, unfortunately…Of course she has the right to say whatever she wants, but we’re in the middle of the Mission. Doing what she is doing is against what we believe.”

The Mission refers to the very liberal district in San Francisco where the play is taking place.

“It really upsets me,” Alonso told Clayton Morris. “I’m in a country that when I came here, people respected each other.”

On Monday night, Alonso talks to Megyn Kelly about the latest fallout! Don't miss the interview on The Kelly File at 9p/ 12a ET.
