The verbal spat between former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) heated up this week.

Reid dismissed Gates' claims by saying he is out to "make a buck" by criticizing Reid, President Obama, and VP Joe Biden in his new book.

Gates then fired back, saying he intends to donate the book's proceeds to veterans charities and arguing that Reid should actually read what he wrote.

“He will find that I do denigrate him, but I also think he will find that, in fact, I have a lot of positive things to say about virtually everybody I wrote about,” Gates told Politico.

Bill Hemmer discussed the dispute this morning with Mary Katharine Ham and Tom Baer.
