Al Qaeda has taken control of major cities in Iraq, causing new concern over the rise of terror in the Middle East.

Tonight on On The Record, Lt. Col. Oliver North (Ret.) called it a “devastating blow” to those who fought in the Iraq war.

Having met with soldiers overseas, North said he used to be able to tell their family members that their sacrifice was worth it. “The victory that we sought in Iraq was doable – a stable country, a friendly government, respect for its own people, and a place where terrorists could not reign again. That’s not what we’re seeing happen now.”

He blamed the Obama administration for walking away from the fight that claimed so many lives.

Tonight at 8/11p ET on The O'Reilly Factor, Charles Krauthammer will have more insight about the situation in Iraq.
