President Ronald Reagan’s former press secretary, Larry Speakes, has died at the age of 74.

Speakes spent six years at the podium for the Reagan administration. He passed away at his Cleveland, Mississippi home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan said she was “saddened to learn about Larry, who served Ronnie with great loyalty in one of the toughest jobs in the White House.”

He is survived by his daughter, two sons, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
