Hospital Plans to Take Teen Off Life Support After Tonsillectomy
Relatives of a 13-year-old girl say hospital officials have declared her legally brain dead and plan to take her off life support following a tonsillectomy.
Jahi McMath reportedly had trouble breathing and suffered a lot of blood loss following surgery to remove her tonsils. She then went into cardiac arrest.
McMath’s mother Latasha Winkfield says her daughter told her she didn’t want to have the surgery because she thought something bad would happen.
Attorneys for the teen’s family say they want another brain scan and perhaps a second opinion.
