Bachmann: ‘We’ll Make Sure' WWII Vets Are Not Blocked From DC Memorial
Yesterday, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) rushed to the aid of a number of World War II veterans who were being barricaded from entering the memorial site in Washington, D.C. because of the government shutdown. Bachmann described the scene on America's Newsroom this morning saying that there were 84 to 99-year-old veterans being held outside barricades.
“A couple of members brought scissors, they cut the police tape, they opened the barriers. A bagpiper led the way, and then we all helped the World War II veterans walk around the monument. And it was really a wonderful experience,” she said.
Bachmann believes shutting down the monuments is simply a political move, and one Republicans will continue to fight.
“We’re planning to be there every single day to help them to make sure that they can get in."
