Obama Has Historic Talk With Iran's President, Says Deal Is Possible
President Obama made remarks from the White House this afternoon and announced that he spoke by phone with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. He said he believes a breakthrough is possible in negotiations over Iran's nuclear program.
Obama said he and Rouhani have directed their teams to work "expeditiously" on a possible agreement.
The contact is the first direct communication between the U.S. and Iranian presidents since 1979.
