Fox News Channel just announced that 'The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson' will debut on Monday, September 30th at 2p ET. Gretchen gave us an inside peek at what we can expect from the brand-new show!

I am so thrilled to be getting back on the air at Fox News! I loved being on 'Fox and Friends' for seven years and while I will miss Steve, Brian and the entire morning crew, the opportunity to do my own show is so exciting!  Besides being able to sleep in a bit more (Ha! My kids are still really early risers!), I am also looking forward to doing in-depth interviews with the newsmakers of the day and holding everyone’s feet to the fire!  As well as delving into the many cultural issues we face in America. I’ve never been afraid to share my faith so we will have what I hope will become a weekly segment on faith in America.  We will also have political debates and most of all … a lot of fun! I want the viewers to know that they are welcome and I so appreciate them taking time out of their busy days to join me at 2p ET.

We will incorporate a lot of social media into the broadcast and share viewers' tweets, emails and photos … so get ready to get better at technology along with me!

Finally, what I love about the title of the show, 'The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson' … is the word “real.”  I am from the Midwest and I was so fortunate to have great parents as wonderful role models who did their best to teach me my core values and humility. I may live in NY but I am still a Midwestern girl at heart … and I want to make sure my show reaches out and includes ALL viewers from coast to coast.  Genuine, authentic, and real. I hope the viewers will see those qualities when they tune in this Monday at 2p ET.

FOX News Channel (FNC) will debut a new one-hour daytime program, The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, on Monday, September 30th at 2PM/ET, announced Michael Clemente, Executive Vice President of News for the network. Preceding that program at 1PM/ET will be a one-hour weekday presentation of America’s News HQ, co-anchored by Bill Hemmer and Alisyn Camerota.

Joining the daytime lineup, The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson (2-3PM/ET) will focus on all current events from general news and crime to politics and investigative reports. In this new role, Carlson will interview newsmakers and lead in-depth panel debates, lending viewers context and perspective on the headlines of the day. The program will also utilize social media to explore trending news stories and enlist viewer feedback.

In making the announcement, Clemente said, “Throughout her career, Gretchen has showcased her talents as a strong interviewer and skilled moderator, both of which will serve her well as she offers viewers a fresh take on the news.”

Carlson joined FNC in June 2005 and most recently served as co-host of FOX & Friends. During her tenure at the network, she has reported on major stories and contributed to coverage of the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. Her wide-ranging interviews include then-Senator Barack Obama, then-Senator Hillary Clinton, former First Lady Laura Bush, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and actress Eva Longoria, among others.

In commenting on the announcement, FNC’s Vice President of News Jay Wallace said, “Gretchen’s vast experience both at the network and in the industry at large has more than prepared her for this new role and we are pleased to have her join the daytime lineup.”

Carlson added, “I am thrilled that Roger Ailes has given me the opportunity to host a signature show for Fox that will focus on the real stories of the day.  From in-depth interviews to social media interaction live during the show, I look forward to joining viewers in the afternoon for smart and straight-forward talk. Plus, I now get to have breakfast with my kids and maybe even drive them to school! How great is that?"

Prior to FNC, Carlson served as a correspondent and co-anchor of CBS News’ Saturday Early Show as well as an anchor and reporter in several local markets. The recipient of the prestigious American Women in Radio and Television “Best Series” award for her 30-part series on domestic violence, Carlson has won two Emmys for her work at CBS News. Before embarking on a television career, she was the first classical violinist to be crowned Miss America in 1989.
