A patriotic sculpture meant to honor the troops is causing controversy instead. Some veterans are upset over a sculpture of the American flag blowing in the wind. The bottom of the flag sits on the ground which violates flag etiquette. What’s more, people walk and even skateboard on the sculpture.

United States Army Sgt. John Brubaker said if the flag touches the ground, it must be cut up and burned. “You pretty much just dishonored that veteran right in front of him,” he told a reporter.

The mayor of Deptford Township, New Jersey is working with the artist to figure out a way to ensure no one walks on the sculpture.
