The National Weather Service has declared a weather emergency in Wichita, Kansas after a tornado touched down near Wichita Mid-Continent Airport.

Meteorologist Janice Dean described a “dangerous situation unfolding” with several tornado warnings in and around the Wichita area.  Some of the tornadoes could be ‘rain-wrapped,’ meaning they will be difficult to see coming.  There is also potential for large hail.

Just north of Oklahoma City, OK, Dean reports that there is another tornado warning.  This severe weather threat could last 24-48 hours.
