Disturbing new video shows a plane crash at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. Monday’s crash killed the seven American crew members on board, including five from Michigan. The Pentagon believes the video is real and was taken from the car of a service member driving security at the base.

The National Airlines president released a statement that reads: “This is a devastating loss for our family and we’ll work diligently with authorities to find the cause.”

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for downing the cargo plane, but NATO indicates that there had been no reports of insurgent activity on or around the area.

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a statement, “Yesterday’s tragic air crash in Afghanistan is a reminder of the contributions civilians and contractors make to our efforts in Afghanistan, and that those contributions carry risks. Michigan’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the crash and their families.”
