Many Police Departments Increasing Firepower for Officers So That They Aren’t Outgunned by Criminals
A growing number of police departments across the country are taking steps to make sure that their officers are not outgunned on the streets. Many large agencies, including the Illinois State Police and Missouri Highway Patrol, as well as local police departments are upping the firepower carried by officers on patrol.
Jonathan Serrie showed us incredible dash cam video
from 2002 which, shows Brentwood, Tennessee, police officer Stephanie Warner using her rolling patrol car as a moving shield against a bank robber who was firing on police with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. She and a fellow officer were shot and wounded. They faced the suspect with only handguns.
