The story of Penelope Soto, the teen who drew national attention for flipping off a Miami judge, appears to be headed toward a positive outcome.

The 18-year-old was back in court Monday, where a judge applauded her for doing well in her drug rehab program, which consists of regular drug tests, counseling, and Narcotics Anonymous sessions.

If Soto successfully completes the program over the course of at least one year, the drug possession charge against her could be dropped.
