What does Bill Nye, the Science Guy, think about the meteor strike in Russia? To put it simply, meteors are a “real threat to humanity,” Nye said.

Had the larger meteor that passed over the Earth actually hit, the impact would have been 200 times the nuclear bomb dropped on Japan in WWII.

Nye said it’s important to catalog the meteors, which can be difficult when they're as small as the one that landed in Russia. He explained that there are ways to deflect asteroids by changing the speed just a few millimeters.
