Mother of Boy Held in Alabama Bunker Speaks Out for First Time: 'He's Having a Very Hard Time Sleeping Soundly'
Dr. Phil secured the first TV interview with the mother of a little Alabama boy who was held hostage in an underground bunker for a week.
The kidnapper, 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes, was killed by law enforcement on Feb. 4. Ethan Kirkland, who turned six last week, was physically okay after the ordeal, which began when Dykes
killed a school bus driver and took Ethan off the bus.
Kirkland told Dr. Phil, in an interview that will air later today, that her son watched as police shot and killed Dykes. The horrible trauma has left her son struggling emotionally.
"He has said a few things now (about the ordeal). I know that he is having a very hard time sleeping soundly. He slings his arms and tosses and turns, and he's cried out a few times," said Kirkland.
