There are new concerns about the well-being of American pastor Saeed Abedini, who is jailed in Iran's Evin prison. The facility is notorious for torturing prisoners.

Abedini's family says he is

undergoing torture and is being psychologically abused. Jordan Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), spoke about the situation this morning on America's Newsroom. The ACLJ has been leading an international effort to pressure the Iranian government to release Abedini.

The 34-year-old father of two was sentenced to eight years in prison about two weeks ago after more than four months in custody. He was convicted on charges of trying to convert Iranians away from Islam to Christianity.

Sekulow said he has seen more of a response since John Kerry took over as Secretary of State about a week ago. But he explained that the situation seems to be taking a mental toll on Abedini, who has now not spoken to his wife or children for a month.
