In a dramatic rescue Monday, FBI agents stormed a bunker in Alabama where 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes had been holding a 5-year-old boy named Ethan for a week. The hostage-taker was killed and the boy was rescued unharmed.

According to Fox News Channel’s Elizabeth Prann, the FBI has confirmed that there was a camera inside the bunker and that authorities were speaking to Jimmy Lee Dykes through a pipe and via cell phone. When talks with the suspect began to deteriorate, they acted quickly.

Initial reports indicate that Dykes was killed by law enforcement, but FBI officials say that they are still processing the crime scene and a review board will release specific details at a later date.

Ethan is said to be laughing and playing as he is evaluated at a local hospital. Tomorrow is his sixth birthday.
