The confirmation hearing for former Sen. Chuck Hagel is still ongoing, and the Defense Secretary nominee is facing some tough critics ... from his own party. Those GOP critics include the likes of Arizona Sen. John McCain who engaged in harsh questioning with Hagel as to his outspoken opposition to the surge in Iraq.

At the hearing on Thursday morning, McCain fired at Hagel, "Were you correct or incorrect when you said that the surge would be the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam? Were you correct or incorrect, yes or no?"

Hagel evaded the direct line of questioning, beginning

to respond by saying, "My reference to the surge being dangerous..."

McCain interjected, however, challenging the former senator. "Are you going to answer the question, Sen. Hagel? The question is, were you right or wrong? That's a pretty straight-forward question. I'd like you to answer if you were right or wrong, and then you're free to elaborate," McCain said.

"I'm not going to give you a 'yes' or 'no' answer to a lot of things today..." Hagel began.

"Well let the record show that you refused to answer the question," said McCain, once again interrupting. "Please, go ahead."
