Robotic-Assisted Surgery Offers New Options for Women
Dr. David Samadi, chief of robotics at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center, spoke on Sunday Housecall about new surgical options for women. Robotic surgery for prostate cancer has been effective. Now, hysterectomies on women due to cancer and other surgeries are being done with a robot.
The reason why it works, explained Dr. Samadi, is because when doctors must work in a very narrow space such as the uterus, they "can visualize things better, there is no incision, there is no blood loss.”
