Moments ago, Senator John Kerry delivered his opening statement to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations at his confirmation hearing for Secretary of State.

Kerry expressed his gratitude to President Obama entrusting him with the responsibility and joked about the support his nomination has received from both sides of the aisle. Kerry said, “I will not take it personally that this may be the one item in Washington that seems to unite Democrats and Republicans to get me out of the Senate quickly.”
