KRIV, the Fox affiliate in Houston, interviewed a first-year student at Lone Star College who says she was a witness to the reported shooting. The student, Kathy Rodriguez, told the reporter she witnessed several gunshots as she was about to go to class and people were crying and screaming. She said she was trying to call for a ride, but then the phone lines locked up.

Rodriguez said people were getting ready to go to classes at the time – 12:30p local time. She and many others immediately fled the building. She said, “It’s not a big school,

so you really feel like you’re at home and you just – I mean, I literally live blocks away from Lone Star.”
