President Barack Obama was officially sworn in to his second term as president of the United State by Chief Justice John Roberts. The ceremony took place in the Blue Room of the White House.

After taking the oath of office, President Obama hugged First Lady Michelle Obama and their two daughters. In a lighter moment, he remarked, "I did it."

The 44th president is only the 16th to be elected to two consecutive terms. This will be his third swearing-in after Justice Roberts flubbed the lines and had to redo it in 2009. The public ceremonial swearing-in will take place tomorrow, followed by President Obama's inaugural address.
