Vice President Joe Biden met with gun safety groups and victims of gun violence today. He told the gathering, “The president and I are determined to take action. This is not an exercise in photo opportunities or just getting to ask you all what your opinions are. We are vitally interested in what you have to say.”

More startling to gun rights groups was the vice president’s statement that, “The president is going to act through executive orders, executive action can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. […] As well as legislative action we believe is required.”

Tonight on Hannity, Fox News contributors Lanny Davis and Jay Sekulow debated

the gun control issue and VP Biden’s remarks.

Sekulow pointed out that, “There’s no executive order the president of the United States can issue that’s going to override the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.” He added, “If they try that, that should be challenged and it would be challenged successfully.”

Davis argued that because the Second Amendment gives citizens the right to own firearms, that doesn’t mean they can’t be regulated.

Sekulow agreed with that argument, but added one stipulation. “The president doesn’t get to set the regulations or the legislation without going through the legislative branch.”
