School Reverses First Grader's Suspension Over Gun Gesture
A first grader is speaking out after being suspended from school for making a gun gesture with his hands. Six-year-old Rodney Lynch described what happened and said, “I’m the one that gets suspended for just nothing.”
The school has since decided to reverse the suspension. The question remains: did the school overreact or were they acting with caution in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting?
Psychotherapist and school counselor Thomas Kersting assessed on Fox and Friends that there’s more layers to this suspension.
“From what I heard, there were a couple of other incidences that took place before that; the kid was talked to.”
Jen Singer, a mommy blogger and author, also weighed in. She said, “There’s a difference between discipline and punishment, and this was straight punishment. Discipline will teach the child why he shouldn’t be doing that.”
