A middle school in Mamaroneck, New York, is on lockdown after police received reports of a stranger with a gun on the premises. On Studio B, Jonathan Hunt reported that the man in question is no longer on school grounds and the lockdown was put in place out of an abundance of caution in light of the recent attack in Newtown, Connecticut.

Studio B host Gregg Jarrett said he received a call about the situation just before going on the air, because his youngest daughter attends the school on lockdown.

Police say the man did not make any threats when he tried to enter the school to retrieve an article of clothing, telling a school employee that he was armed because he works elsewhere as a guard.

Mamaroneck is located in Westchester County, just north of New York City.
