Israel Delays Ground Invasion by 48 Hours With Hope That Truce Can Be Reached
Israel is holding on a ground invasion of Gaza for 48 hours to see if an Egyptian-brokered truce can be worked out.
Leland Vittert reports live from the Israel-Gaza border that Israeli radio is quoting officials as saying that there will be an announcement as early as tonight on a ceasefire. Also, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, who has been negotiating these talks, said, “The Israeli aggression will end tonight.”
In the coming hours, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will arrive in Israel and meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
