Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced this morning in Washington that she would seek another term as House Minority Leader. There had been some questions around Capitol Hill in recent days about whether she may decide to step aside.

Pelosi, who served as House Speaker from 2007-11, trumpeted the House Democrats' diversity with respect to female and minority members.

She then raised eyebrows and drew some laughs among her fellow members by declaring that House Democrats "still have the gavel." She quickly corrected herself, explaining that she meant to say that "we have our own gavel."

"We do not have the majority, but we have unity," Pelosi said.
